πŸ“La Gomera From La Palma we went to the small island of La Gomera. It's small, but you still need to calculate some time to get around since basically all roads lead to the center of the island, from where you can change direction. This is due to the many steep barrancos of the island. So be prepared for driving along many windy mountain roads, but with stunning views along the way. La Gomera is a great island for hikers, with almost endless trails and trail combinations. I can't say La Gomera is my favorite Canary Island, it lacks the diversity or just that extra wow-factor many other islands do have. But I still enjoyed the hikes we did, mainly in the forest, but also a coastal hike to a remote beach. If you want to visit La Gomera, I highly recommend visiting in spring. The flowers along the trails give it a special touch and it's also the quiest season in the Canary Islands in general, so you'll find the fewest crouds on the roads and the trails. For more tips about traveling to La Gomera and what to do here, head to the blog for a dedicated article. Link in bio.

Link in bio. . . . #lagomera #canaryislands #springinlagomera #hiking #travelblog

πŸ“La Palma La Palma is more than just volcanoes, the island also has a stunning rugged coastline with hidden beaches and coves. One of the most interesting ones is Poris de Candelaria, a small settlement where people used to hide from pirates. But don't miss La Palma's most beautiful beach Playa Nogales either. And when all cirumstances are just right, the gorgeous Playa de la Veta appears on a place even more hidden and harder to reach.
Prefer a more easily accessible beach with bars, restaurants and all other comfort nearby? No worries, La Palma has that too! Head over to Tazacorte or Puerto Naos for a relaxing beach day. .

πŸ“La Palma - La Isla Bonita La Palma is one of the most stunning islands of the archipelago. It's main feature is the volcanic landscape with lava fields, rugged ridges, crater views, and of course the newly formed Tajogaite volcano. There are endless trails on the island to explore the volcanic landscape. But La Palma also has dense forests to hike through, like Los Tilos and Cubo de la Galga. .

πŸ“Lanzarote - PN Los Volcanes isn't the only place in Lanzarote with volcanoes, the whole island is dotted with volcanic craters and calderas. πŸ“Lanzarote - PN Los Volcanes isn't the only place in Lanzarote with volcanoes, the whole island is dotted with volcanic craters and calderas. Volcan de la Corona in the north is one of the most popular and beautiful ones since it's so green! A huge contrast to the generally barren landscape of this island.
We also hikes some random volcanoes, like a red one with views over La Graciosa we stumbled across driving north from the little town of La Santa where we were staying. And one next to La Santa, perfect to watch the sunset from πŸŒ…

πŸ“Parque Natural de los Volcanes, Lanzarote Most people who visit Lanzarote visit Timanfaya National Park. But the idea of waiting in line for hours to be let in and pay quite a lot of money just to be driven around in a bus with dusty windows didn't sound that appealing to us. Especially after meeting people who had done it confirmed my expectations. So we skipped Timanfaya, researched a little more and did some amazing free hikes in the surrounding Parque Natural de los Volcanes. Caldera Blanca gave especially incredible views over the park, and Timanfaya in the background. But I also loved visiting Caldera de los Cuervos around sunset and searching for the hidden lava tunnel Cueva de Ortiz. .

πŸ“Cartagena, Colombia πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄ We finished our Colombia trip in Cartagena. Cartagena is far from my favorite place in Colombia, there are much nicer and more laid back colonial towns in Colombia like Mompox (see one of my previous posts), but I did enjoy wandering the streets early in the morning just after sunrise before the streets filled up with people and the heat and humidity became to much for me. The old city is indeed very pretty, especially when you have it almost to yourself. We stayed outside of the old city. Which was a bit more quiet and especially much cheaper so when it started to get hot and crowded and passed by parque centenario for a glimpse of the monkeys and sloths living there before heading back inside our air conditioned accommodation, preparing for our flight out the next day. #colombiatravel #cartagenadeindias #cartagena #travelblogger #travelphotography

πŸ“Cartagena, Colombia πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄ We finished our Colombia trip in Cartagena. #colombiatravel #cartagenadeindias #cartagena #travelblogger #travelphotography

πŸ“Cabo de la Vela, Colombia πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄
Tired of the Colombian humidity, but not of the Colombian beaches, we headed further East to the remote Cabo de la Vela. This small community is known as a kite-hot spot, but other than that it doesn't attract many tourists. I doubted on wether to include it in our Colombia itinery of 2024, since I did a tour of the La Guajira peninsula in 2019 and I didn't love it. But I have to say that the DIY was very different and much more enjoyable. Also since we stopped at Cabo de la Vela whereas the tour continued further East so we spent a lot more time in a car on a bumpy road. In 2024 we decided to stay a few nights in Cabo, visiting a few beaches in the area and just relaxing. Cabo kind of forces you to do that, because there isn't much around and there are only a few hours of electricity a day meaning forced disconnection which was actually very nice.

πŸ“Los Cocos, Colombia πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄
After Tayrona, we weren't quite ready to leave Colombia's "jungle meets sea" beaches. So we spent a few days at Los Cocos enjoying more of this tropical vibe. Los Cocos is local, quiet, and perfect for relaxing. Unfortunately the sea wasn't as good for swimming, or at least not when we were there, so I spent the hotest time of the day working indoors and enjoyed the cooler early morning and late afternoons at the beach. Especially sunrise and sunset are the perfect times for a relaxing stroll along the beach admiring the gorgeous colorpalet.
